Kissan is a Hindi movie full of drama, masti and all about Kisaan (farmer). He is the person who ploughs seeds in the land and serves millions of people with food to survive in this world. The story is a melodrama saga of a powerful father and his two sons. It presents an honest view of the rugged life and goals of a simple farming family against the lush green agricultural lands of modern day Punjab.
The artists in the movie are Dayal Singh (Jackie Shroff), Jigar (Sohail Khan), Aman (Arbaaz Khan), Priya (Dia Mirza), Titli (Nausheed Cyrusi) and Sohan Seth (Dilip Tahil).
The story begins with a Kisaan, Dayal Singh, and a widower who's immersed in the legacy of his ancestral lands as he raises two very different sons. Aman, is formally schooled to become a city based lawyer while Jigar through lack of funds is not able to continue his schooling but takes up farming and stays by his father's side.
The story takes an exciting twist when Sohan Seth, a shrewd businessman convinces many of the farmers to sell their lands for his own personal benefit, rather than thinking of their welfare. Dayal and his family are ready for the battle.
The story raises the question of whether the ground at their feet is the mother land or just a piece of land. In the meanwhile the direction turns in such a way that they cannot recover from a shocking incident where Priya and Titli add to the drama and conflict. In these circumstances the struggle comes to a tragic end where each person in the village is forced to re-examine the life that they are living.
