My first thought with this title was, I hope it is better than the other Broken that promised to be better than Saw. Then I started watching this one and realized it was on a completely different level than either of those movies. For one, this movie takes place in London. Another thing is I had trouble really knowing what was trying to be accomplished with this one.
When it begins, it shows an excerpt of Edgar Allan Poe’s “William Wilson” about seeing death in your own image you actually see how you have murdered yourself. Then we get shots of downtown London as we follow Gina (Lina Heady) to the hospital where she works as a radiologist. There is an x-ray on the screen that shows a person who has the heart located on the right side of the body. It is a rare condition, but not an abnormality. We then see John (William Jenkins) enter his house. He looks into his mirror, has a drink, and wishes himself a happy birthday. As he is doing this he sees a shadow moving inside his house. He arms himself and opens the door to find his family is there to have a surprise party for him. During the party we see Gina there with her boyfriend Stefan (Melvil Poupaud) and are introduced to her brother Daniel (Asier Newman) and his girlfriend Kate (Michelle Duncan).
